GUEST MUSICIAN:
.
NOTES FROM 54 SECONDS: Cool show. Packed house. Earl Harvin on drums.
Spencer broke a string during "Early Warning" and so "Jaded" is done
entirely without guitar. The string gets changed by a volunteer who turns
out to be Paul Barker from Ministry. St
.
First of all, I want to say that this is THE best show I have heard so far. Spencer sang superbly, and the whole band was in excellent form!!! I can't stress that enough. The mix over all was pretty darn good. Just like the song, prepare to be Blown Away!
Early Warning: Beautiful intro!!!! Freaky low key effects from Stewart and eerie solo from Spencer, before Glenn's dark bass, and Earl's drums enter into a slow steady spiral to the angels. Whoa! Spencer has this cool effect happening in his solo. I like it!!! Vocals are excellent!!! (albeit a fraction quiet for my liking).
Spencer: "If anyone in the room knows how to change a guitar string, please come up to the stage."
Jaded: Cool version! Once again, Stewart gets to step into the spotlight with an outstanding solo!! To tell you the truth, it didn't sound that much different without the guitar. It didn't loose anything, and just sounded great!!Spencer: "Right, now we can actually, get this guy back where it stared from. I don't think we've ever quiet done it like that before. You guys doin' alright? (audience cheers). Cool. That's a good crowd! Just tune this thing up a bit
Poppy Seed: Beautiful
vocals from Spencer in the opening verse. Nice thick feel when all the
band comes in. This is one of the best versions I have heard. Good
harmonies. Gorgeous guitar solo from Spencer.
You can download an MP3
sample of this on Heather's Live
page on her Wanted website
Nashville: Oh my! It doesn't get any better!
World Stood Still: .... and then they play this song, and I have to eat my words again. This was perfect.
(I think Glenn says something here, but I can't make it out.)
You Are Not Me: I LOVE that tremolo on Spencer's guitar (or whatever it's called in guitarist's tongue). Beautiful version! Tonight's blend is breathtaking!
Foolish Me:
Low key effects build the suspense before Glenn's B-b-b-bass baby kicks
in. This song rocks! It sounds better every time I hear it. Earl Harvin on
drums:::> Yummo!!!!!!!
This is one of the band's best songs! The vocals are extra good, and spot
on. Good mix on sound too. Most times I've heard this, the mix is not quiet
balanced, but tonight it was pretty much spot on. Excellent!
Spencer: We've got a couple more for you. I'd like to hear it for our special guest, Mr. Earl Harvin on drums (audience cheers). If you get a chance to see The Earl Harvin Trio, they're really fuckin' fantastic. Go check 'em out. We've got a couple more. This is called Got You Thinking."
It Got You Thinking: Perfect. The best I've heard in ages. Beautiful lyrics. Excellent melody -- I just love this song!!!
Strange Day: ... and to finish it with probably their best song to date. Strange Day is such a complex song that rocks from start to finish, with tons of freaky effects from Stewart & Spencer, thick dark bass from Glenn, and complex drum grooves from (in tonight's instance) Earl! I am just in awe every time I hear this song.
Spencer: "Goodnight, and thank you!"
