Fundraiser: "Bands perform to benefit kids at Rawson-Saunders School. Several popular bands and the club Speakeasy are joining forces to raise funds for Austinšs only school that provides academic excellence for dyslexic children. All of the bands and the club are donating their time and resources, ensuring 100% of ticket proceeds go to help the school."

50% of 54 Seconds cd's sold that night were donated to the cause!!

NOTES FROM 54 SECONDS:
Spencer was sick that night and Brannen played what's called a Cocktail Kit, standing up.

.

Compere: "Okay ladies and gentlemen, listen up please. On stage right now is .... 54 Seconds!"

Early Warning: Glenn's beautiful thick bass jumps out at me this time around. The blend all 'round is perfect! The harmonies are spot on. Spencer is fresh, his voice sounds great, and there is no sign of his sickness. The guitars in this version are particularly cool. Stewart's organ is gorgeous. Brannen on drums sounds fantastic. Because of the whole Cocktail set-up, I can't help but listen for him throughout this show. It has a fantastic warm sound.

Sp: Thank you. Here's a tune called Jaded."

Jaded: Very cool intro. I really like the tempo. It is slow and cynical, bleeding with the hurt of betrayal. This is such a good song!!

Sp: "Thanks a lot for being here. It's a really cool event.
::: Was that a sneeze from Stewart or Glenn? ..hehe.. :::
Sp: Let's here it for Cloudtalk who played before us. Those guys were really, really awesome. Two of the coolest bands I've heard in this town in a long time. Go check them out again. Here's a tune called Nashville."

Nashville: Stewart uses a slightly different "eerie" effect. This is such a cool song!

Sp: "Bear with me while I change this string".
St: "First time ever."

You Are Not Me: Ahhh... mellow... Just beautiful!!

Sp: "This is a tune called Foolish Me".

Foolish Me: Beautiful Glenn... I have been favouring the birthday boy this week. I can't help myself. This show tipped the scales... and oh my, I think I love Brannen!!!

Poppy Seed: Spencer's voices is noticeably huskier at this point. He is sexy as ever. He's like a gorgeous Rod Stewart. The guitar solo is divine. This is always one of my favourite solos. If were any longer it would consume me.

St: "We have.. umm.. live cd's we've been recording the last three or four shows we did. We have a show at Antone's, and a couple of others. A couple of shows from here. We're selling those for $5.00 each."
Sp: "Yeah, if you buy live cd's, we'll give half of whatever we sell tonight, to this cause. It's a really cool thing. (audience cheers) Yeah, so please come see Stewart after the show. We've got a couple more for you... and another band after us. Please don't go anywhere."

Strange Day: Way cool build up into the intro. Strange Day is always one of my favourites. Because I have heard this song so many times, I sometimes forget just how good it is. Of course, upon listening, I am always quickly reminded.

Sp: "Thanks a lot. Y'all have a good nice".

Regarding Spencer's voice (due to sickness).... Pitch wise, Spencer was perfect. He didn't waver once during this show. When he starts out on Early Warning, his voice is strong, and the same as always, although he was most likely holding back a bit to "save" it a bit for later songs... so vocally he's not quiet as wild as in other shows in the first couple of songs (i.e.: no primal screams during Jaded etc..). Towards the end of the show his voice is huskier than usual. Overall, this is definitely one of my favourite "Live" cd's to date.
