SPECIAL NOTES: This song features the BRAND NEW SONG" Complicated",
with SPENCER ON PIANO <G> My knees are weak in anticipation!

.

Poppy Seed: Beautiful clear sound. Little bit of feedback. Oh, talk about in fine voice ("It's you that gives me what I need").  Glenn's rich bass line digs in, with a good groove from Brannen. Oh Yeah, I like this feel!! Really nice guitar solo!

Sp: "Thank you. Yeah nice one. Thank you all for being here. It's very cool. We've got a fun night for you guys"

Nashville: Good strong performance from all.

Sp: (cd chop)... He's been so good to us. You guys wouldn't have been here without him, so come on, let's give it up for him. (mic feeds back) Wow, let's give it up for that. Okay, I'd like Ephraim Owens to come and play some trumpet. So bear with us for a second, while we'll get that together.
Audience: "Hey he's got a bag of chicken."
Sp: (laugh) "Hey what's in that bag?"
St: "Did you bring enough for the whole class?"

Blown Away: Begins with windy effects and a distant slow solo from Spencer. Brannen sliding in with his soothing cymbals. Glenn enters beautifully. A quick tease from Ephraim, right before we are graced with Spencer's soulful voice. Ephraim is superb on trumpet!! He gives the song a whole new angle. Stewart's solo is gorgeous, as is Ephraim's, who follows him. The song trails out with more windy effects. I really liked this tempo too. It's just right! I think this is the best version I have heard from them yet. Beautiful job!!

Sp: "Yeah! Let's here it for Ephraim Owens. We're going to to another tune with him. It's called Sell It To A Girl".

Sell It To A Girl: I live for this intro from Stewart. Beautiful work from all!

Sp" Ephraim Owens. He's going to stick around and do something with us in the second set. We're going to play a couple more for you, and taken a short break. Here's a tune called World Stood Still. I forgot to mention it before, but Blown Away ... it was dedicated to Monica. (awww... Now that's too sweet! :o) - J.)

World Stood Still: Just as lovely, the second time around. Definitely one of their best.

Sp: "Thank you. We're going to do one more for you. I'd like you to bear with us for a second, while we change to the piano. We're going to take a really short break. When we come back, we'll have Brian Standefer on cello. Fantastic (comical accent) Patrice Pike, who will sing. (cd cuts)"

Complicated: Spencer starts out on piano with steady melancholic chords, with a few fills from Stewart. Glenn & Brannen come in with Spencer's voice -- Which is utterly gorgeous -- Reflective & soul soothing! By the second verse I was well and truly hooked. Stewart's contrast fills throughout & his solo are divine.

Sp: "Thank you. We'll be back in just a few minutes."

(set break)

Gl: *whispers* "thank you" (Glenn making sounds again - can't help himself).

You Are Not Me: Oooo.... Beautiful Brian warmly caressing this already pretty arrangement. Just beautiful!

Sp: "Thank you. We're going to do another tune with Brian. Will we change the vibe up a little bit?"
Audience: Change the vibe a little bit?
Sp: "I don't think so. This is a tune called Plastic Love"

Plastic Love: This has to be my song of the moment. The previous Speakeasy version leaves me breathless, and this version is nothing less. Brian is amazing, the intro is mellow and melancholic. The outro picks up and has a Celtic influence, which sounds very cool!

Sp: "Brian Standefer on cello!"

It Got You Thinking: Ian Moore! Brannen's drums towards the end are fantastic, as with Stewart's keys.

Strange Day: I'm not sure if this is the best version ever, although it is pretty flippin' fantastic!!

Sp: "Thank you. Y'all have a good night. This (?), this will be our last show. Thank you, Ian Moore!

Notes: Patricia Pike (Sister 7) sang "Sometimes" with Spencer at this show, however, that didn't make the cut for the cd :o(
