NOTES FROM 54 SECONDS: "This was a funny show.  Tiny club with minimal PA. House drum kit and amps. Still, I think we played our butts off.  You can hear a lot of bar conversation between songs which add some local Austin flavour to the mix. -- 54 Seconds"

.

Well I think the sound turned out pretty good. The mix is pretty decent, and the talking isn't as loud as I expected, aside from a couple of prominent sounds here & there. The voices are less muffled than Antone's -- plus Stewart's keys are coming though clear & cool. All the instruments have a fairly equal mix.

Compare: Ladies & Gentlemen, 54 Seconds

Early Warning: There is a fair bit of talking in the beginning from one guy, but they quieten down as the band start to play. This is always a great song to start with. Very cool intro!! When the vocals kick in, they are nice & strong and blend well (detracting from Spen's ever so sightly out of tune guitar. You hardly notice it though.)

Sp: "I'm going to get this guitar in tune for you guys.. Here's a tune called ...Poppyseed".

Poppy Seed: When Spencer sings the first verse, my god, my knees just weaken that little bit more. The guitar solo in this is soul soothing, and SO good!

(Spencer is chuckling here a bit)

Jaded: The coolest keys ever.

Foolish Me: Oh, they have this industrial effect in the intro. Very Cool! Fantastic !! (Speakeasy (2/26) version is still top of the list though).

Sp: "Going to take it down a little. Hope you don't mind" (as if! - J)

You Are Not Me: Beautiful harmonies, beautiful solos!

It Got You Thinking: huh?! .... Just rip out my heart next time. It will be less painful.

Sp: "Thank you. Thanks a lot! If you're interested in merchandise, talk to Stewart after the show. Whatever you do, don't talk to my ass. Buy me a drink or something.

Sell It To A Girl: Beautiful version!! Harmonies are spot on this time! Gorgeous keys. I say that every time, but it is so true! Nice work from the rest of the band. Spencer's vocals are soooo sexy, but really, Stewart owns this one.

Sp: "Thank you all very much. Next we have the fantastic Will Sexton. Yeah let's hear it for Will, man, the guy's the shit." (I think that's man talk for: "He's really good, and I approve of his work." - J.)

Strange Day: Freaky intro. This is the best song to listen to for new effects. They go wild in it. Amazing from start to finish.

Okay, that's it, I'm not writing any more full reviews. I just sound like a drooling idiot. When it comes to 54 Seconds I am. Can't help it. :o] I'm just picking out the best bits from now on.
